She was born in Greene County on May 29, 1922 To Rachel Crowell Bowman and  John Thomas Bowman.  Cherokee Indian, they lived on Buffalo mountain and worked at what is now Tipton Haynes as farm laborers.  She had her first taste of ice cream there as a child.  They were simple people and lived as God allowed them.

Pearline raised two wonderful children that she loved dearly. A son, Buddy, and a daughter, Ruby. She watched them grow and saw as the branches on her family tree grew, and she loved every branch.  From grandchildren, to great-grandchildren she loved them all.   She loved to tend her garden, harvesting corn,  grean beans, tomatoes, and whatever she could get a patch of earth for. When she wasn't tending a garden, she was out picking greens in the woods, or on a hillside somewhere. She loved to can and freeze food.  She liked to watch birds at her bird feeder outside her front door. And more than anything she loved people.  She loved to get out and visit, just to be near people. During her last few years, Pearline had fallen ill and God saw she was suffering and he drew her into his arms for eternal peace and rest. She left us to be with him on April 14, 2007.  She was at Hillview Nursing Home when she passed.  She is at Oak Hill Cemetary in Johnson City, near the Johnson Monument.
